Busy day... even without classes

Yep... today ended up really busy.  Woke up at 8 AM (amazingly), after going to bed at an equally-amazing 1:30... for some reason it seems like I have a much easier time getting to bed at a reasonable time if I stay somewhere away from home, no matter where that somewhere is.  Seriously, when I was at the Moose camp over the summer I noticed the same thing--I didn't even remotely feel like staying up until 3 AM (I think I actually went to bed before a few other people, even.)

But anyway... woke up at 8 AM and found that I had no bowl to put my oatmeal in, so I ended up having to eat it out of one of the cups I brought with me, just like we always did back in the day on Boy Scout camping trips when nobody brought a bowl.  Which was okay, though I only put two packets worth in there and that didn't quite get me all the way to lunch without me feeling really hungry (started getting that "need to eat soon" feeling around 11:00 or so.)  I guess three packets would've been a better idea, since (after seeing how much two filled it up) I'm pretty sure it would still fit in the cup that way.  Four might be overdoing it with a cup.

I had originally planned on going to the orientation stuff that was going on this year, but by the time I had taken a shower, cooked and eaten my oatmeal, and brushed my teeth it was closing in on 9:30 (and orientation started at 9:00... which meant the SAC would've been super-crowded by this point and the first part would be halfway over already.)  So instead I sat around on the computer working on my Zelda Classic tileset, then eventually went to attempt to get something to eat for lunch.  Turns out there was a mistake and the school didn't sign me up for a meal plan, so I had to transfer my leftover financial aid (...mostly from not having a meal plan, since prices went up XD) into my student account.  And it was for nothing, since the food sucked at lunch and I ended up going back home and eating some shells and cheese (with tomatoes and green chiles mixed in) instead.  After that I walked down into Buena Vista and got a haircut, so the Mormon Hair-hanging-over-the-ears Police don't come after me (and also because it's hot out and it's usually a good idea to have shorter hair when it's too hot to be outside for long.)  Ended up eating supper at the dining hall, where I met a couple of new students and ended up talking to them for pretty much the whole time; their names were Annie and Kiera (not sure if I'm spelling them right, but I had to ask them for their names twice just during supper since I'm terrible at remembering names, so I figure if I mention them here it might be easier to remember.)

Finally, went to the "Knight Games," which was much better than last year's (it was way too crowded last year due to having everything inside, so everyone was packed into one room and I had to leave after a pretty short time.)  Bumped into a bunch of people I know there, and even got hugged once.  Also attempted to balance an Oreo on my forehead and get it into my mouth without hands, though I wasn't able to do it (I did get it to balance perfectly on my nose for over a minute completely by accident, though.)  Watched people ride the mechanical bull, went around and talked to the people at all the booths, got a picture taken of myself in front of a green-screen holding a pizza slice and some popcorn (and the green-screen will be replaced with a picture of Machu Pichu), and other various silliness.  Pretty good day, though there was a lot of walking and standing involved so my feet are kinda tired now.
